Hi

I have purchased a WWI trio named to:

Lieut. F.L. HEPPEL RNR

I have a summary of the ships/bases he served on in WWI: White Oak, Zaria ("Q"),Wallaroo,City of Perth,Pekin, along with letters from each ship's captain confirming service.

The summary, dated in the 1930s says he was Mentioned in Despatches 2 times, 3 times recommended for decorations and received the thanks of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty for good services.

I believe he was commended for services connected with Boom Defences of harbours.

Can anyone help with any confirmation/ further references to him.

Thanks

Duncan

Frank Leslie Heppell commissioned a TY/S/LT, RNR, on 30 November 1914. He was a Acting LT in 1916. Temporary LT, RNR, on 30 Nov 16.

He served in Light cruiser WALLAROO from 12 Jan 16.

He served in CITY OF PERTH from Mar 17 through the spring of 1919.

A bit dotty, but hope this helps.
