Jock Bruce Posted 12 May , 2003 Share Posted 12 May , 2003 Does anybody have a unit history or any information about this unit's activities in Aug 17 which would throw light on the circumstances in which 2/Lt William Prince recevied the wounds from which he died on 28 Aug. I've done the war diary, Prince's file and all the obvious stuff. Jock
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 13 May , 2003 Share Posted 13 May , 2003 Jock, The Y & L did take part in the Third Ypres, perhaps he was wounded in an associated action? Ian
Jock Bruce Posted 13 May , 2003 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2003 Ian, yeah - the war diary has a couple of instances during Aug where he might have been wounded, but is one of those where there isn't quite the right detail to tie down the exact date. Relative of my boss, annual report time, keen to get it right Yeah, I know, the tongue should be brown! Jock
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 13 May , 2003 Share Posted 13 May , 2003 Jock, If his service record gives the hospital where he was treated and died, have you thought of consulting their WO 95 diary. It should record his details. Just a thought. Ian
Jock Bruce Posted 13 May , 2003 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2003 Ian, nice one. It was 61 CCS. I've never dabbled in hospital records. One for this weekend. And no, you can't have a cut of any rise I get - but I think I can run to a coffee when next we meet. Jock
