trajan Posted 23 February , 2016 Share Posted 23 February , 2016 Well, I think that is what this is! It is OEWG marked on one ricasso, a squiggly thing that could be the Romanian Eagle/phoenix on the other, and the unit-marking is: "In. 61472", which is certainly not Austrian or German. If anyone can correct me or advise me on the ID and/or marking, please do! No, I am not thinking of branching out and buying it - just interested in what it is (It was offered to me as an S.71/84...!!!) Thanks in advance, Trajan
MikeyH Posted 23 February , 2016 Share Posted 23 February , 2016 Julian, Yes, agree with you, think this is a M1893 for the Mannlicher 6.5 mm rifle, blade should be 260mm, muzzle ring i.d. 14mm. Mike.
Mike_H Posted 23 February , 2016 Share Posted 23 February , 2016 Julian Here is a photo of the phoenix mark on my example, as you will see its on the left of the pommel. Mine is numbered 370 without the 'In' prefix. Mike
trajan Posted 23 February , 2016 Author Share Posted 23 February , 2016 Thanks, I don't have a photograph of the pommel on this one - but I think that ricasso mark in the OP could be the same? Entirely new area for me, so 'scuse a dummy question!
msdt Posted 23 February , 2016 Share Posted 23 February , 2016 They are a nice looking bayonet. Not so common I think. Cheers, Tony
