Paul,

Here also is Lt.-Col. C. S. Baines' D.S.O. Recipient's Book biography, with details of his military career.

Obviously a brave man, being awarded the D.S.O., and then a Bar to his D.S.O., being one of only 708 First Bars awarded to Army Officers during WW1.

Regards,

LF

Baines commanded 'A' Coy., 1OBLI in North Russia as part of 2nd (Grogan's) Brigade, North Russia Relief Force.

He was shot in the groin on 27th June 1919 during 1OBLI's raid on Bolshevik position north of the village of Ignatovskaya.

He was evacuated to the hospital at Bereznik on the River Dvina where his leg was amputated.

Command of 'A' company was taken over by Capt. George Naylor, OBLI who was awarded the MC for the raid.
