Guest stcir Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Hi all, I'm a figure modeller and new to this site. I intend to paint two German sturmtruppen figures made by German manufacturer Hecker & Goros. They both have a small round pouch attached to their belts, on their backs. I think it might be a gasmask spare filter pouch, but the real ones i've seen have a straight edged flap, closed by a button, while the ones on the figures have pointed flaps. What is it?. Was it leather or canvas? What color?. On the other hand, both figures lack a water bottle. Was it normal for Sturmtruppen not to carry waterbottles during raids? Many Thanks
max7474 Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Could it be their pouch which was known as their bread bag? This was worn hanging off the belt.

Guest stcir Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Could it be their pouch which was known as their bread bag? No, they both carry bread bags. It's a small cylindrical pouch, worn flatside on the belt, it's radius being slighly longer than the belt's width, something like a Lewis MG or Soviet WWII PPSH drum magazine carrier, but smaller. I'm sorry i can take no pics of it. My camera lacks a good macro. I'll try to get one from the internet. Thanks
bkristof Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Then i think it is the spare filter pouch, see picture: Colours: grey green, brown, sand (like this one) even dark brown. A lot were made of scrap material...
roger Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Is this the figure & pouch? Pretty sure it is Can't help with your query though. I painted mine black, same as the belt. I can't find any ref. to this pouch in any of the books I have either.

bkristof Posted 25 November , 2004 Share Posted 25 November , 2004 Roger, seeing the size of it on your figure. I am 99% convinced it is the spare filter pouch. Pleased to help you modellers . By the way, very nice models!
