I'm looking for a citation or record for the award of a Military Medal to Sgt Yardley for a relative.

He was George Alfred but also known as Alfred George...

I think he was 2nd Bn....

Long shot!!

Cheers

Simon

War diaries in the WO 95 catalogue series at Kew sometimes contain MM citations and detials of when and who presented the riband. Worth checking out.

Failing to find a citation, your next best bet might be to see if there's a write up about his award in his local newspaper. Quite a search though - the article could appear anywhere between the actual action and his LG entry (or even just after!).

6288 Sgt Alfred G. Yardley, Worcestershire Regt has two entries in the MIC database.

The second ones shows him as:

6288 Sgt. A.G. Yardley, Depot Late Worcestershire Regt.

If he got the MM I would expect one of these cards to be his MIC and one to be his MM card. The MM card includes date of the Gazette.
