Carter Posted 26 January , 2016 Share Posted 26 January , 2016 In view of the current imbroglio concerning the validity of de-activation certificates outside the country of origin, I'm looking to buy a de-activated SMLE in Belgium and store it there, in order to use it for talks and presentations as part of a programme of battlefield tours. With this in mind, can anyone recommend a Belgian dealer from whom I might buy one?
JMB1943 Posted 2 February , 2016 Share Posted 2 February , 2016 Have you considered a replica ? These are available in the US for $190-250; apparently cannot be made to fire. I have seen photos and they look quite reasonable, with wt. 6 lb alittle less than the real thing. Depends on Belgian import rules, I suppose. Regards, JMB Edit: they say no international shipments. I see that replicas can also be bought in the UK.
Carter Posted 3 February , 2016 Author Share Posted 3 February , 2016 Thanks for the suggestion, but I wanted to give the clients an idea of the weight and feel of the real thing, which is why I want a deac rather than a replica.
