Fred W Posted 23 November , 2004 Share Posted 23 November , 2004 The names of Liuetenants Christopher Hartley RFA and Edmund Hartley 2nd Bn Lancashire Fusiliers, appear on six WW1 memorials:- The Knorr (Preparatory School),Harrow School, their respective Oxford Colleges ( Merton and Brasenose, respectively) a commemorative plaque in St Anne's church Fence, on the Fence and Wheatley Lane Memorial and a commemorative window that was placed in St Mary's church Nelson, built by their maternal grandfather. Is this a record for non general staff.? Fred W
Greenwoodman Posted 24 November , 2004 Share Posted 24 November , 2004 I have a private soldier commemorated on 10 memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, yet his death is unrecognisd by CWGC. He was a reservist, called up early, and killed at First Ypres.
Fred W Posted 24 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 24 November , 2004 I forgot that the harleys were also commemorated on there headstones in Ypres Reservoir Cemetery and Mont-Bernanchon British Military Cemetery, Gonnehemp. So six becomes seven. Fred W
