joee86 Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 Hi, Can anyone give me the location of the Cavalry Depot in York please? It pops up a lot in my g-grandfathers service record, and I will be visiting the area soon and would like to see what's left. Seems to be where he joined in 1906, was station until 1908 and demobbed in 1919. So I assume it was a large Cavalry or Hussars depot. Thanks. Joe. Steven Broomfield Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 Googling is always a good start - this might be helpful http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/yorks/city-of-york/pp541-542 As might this In Fulford, and largely demolished, but still a bit to see. http://ffhyork.weebly.com/cavalry-barracks.html
Toby Brayley Posted 12 January , 2016 Share Posted 12 January , 2016 It was also the home of 5RCR until 1917, in the discussion on your other thread you mention he was posted to them. http://www.1914-1918.net/cavreserve.htm
