For anyone who is looking for an image of Thomas Scanlan, (later Lt. Colonel; 1894-1982) who won an MC and Bar and wounded three times while with the Tyneside Irish and served in the interwar period with the 1st Battalion.

Thanks for the photo - I know a Thomas Scanlon (who is of Irish descent), I wonder whether there is a connection?

I will report back.

Hi,

Is his name spelt Scanlan or Scanlon? It'll be interesting if there is a connection. Wonder if he is a Geordie?

I'm doubtful it's a relation as all of Thomas Scanlan's family and relations spell it as SCANLAN but it would be very interesting to hear from your friend if indeed there is a link.
