manxman Posted 23 November , 2004 Share Posted 23 November , 2004 A couple of months ago I managed to get my hands on "The Liverpool Scottish 1900-1919" by A.M. McGilchrist, published 1930. V. rare, v. expensive. It is a very readable account of both prewar and wartime activities of the 10th, and subsequently the 1/10th, 2/10th and 3/10th. It has a roll of Honour, list of honours and awards and a muster roll of the 10th as it stood when it went to war. McGilchrist spent almost the entire war as an officer in the 1/10th and was the Colonel in the post war battalion. Loads of detail, some battle accounts break down activities to platoon level. Lots of references to named officers and unusually, other ranks. 333 pages. The good news! Naval and Military Press have produced a reprint (since I shelled out!) for a very reasonable £14.99 If you have an interest in Liverpool Scottish buy it! I will though do look ups
