mutley Posted 21 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 21 November , 2004 Ian many thanks, that confirms my own thought, in that he died on the 27 Dec and not the 31st. He drowned in a dock, he was one of two men who fell in but the other managed to get out and he didnt and was drowned. I cant understand why the CWGC have his date as 31st, perhaps they waited until the inquest was over. The local paper gives the date as 27th and also mentions an inquest but gives no reason why he was at the dock or how he and the other soldier came to fall in. Many thanks for such a quick response.
