Good Afternoon,

Could you tell me what type of mortar is shown in the attached photo, also your opinions of what the writing says, particularly the name over the soldier with a cross on his helmet. I will post the reverse later.

The mortar is the 7.58cm leichter Minenwerfer (lMW) n.A. (aka 76mm light mortar). Vintage 1916.

Name on front; possibly Frank or Franz. Handwriting on reverse is not clear enough for me... Hopefully, someone with better Süttelin script reading ability will chime in...

With the fellow located right behind the tube, it does not appear to have the anti-tank addition. new3.2

Another question- Were there willow wicker carriers in that box that the crew is serving the mortar from? I have restored a 7.6 cm and would like to find an ammunition box or a good photo of same.

Ammunition could be in a wooden carry box with internal spacers or in a wicker carrier. Will try to find some photos
