AndrewBelsey Posted 19 January , 2018 Share Posted 19 January , 2018 Sotonmate, Do you have the whereabouts of the 49 Field Ambulance on 26th September 1918 and the 48 Field Ambulance on 8th November 1918? My Grandfather (with 1st Essex Regt.) needed their services on those two dates. Thanks, Andy
sotonmate Posted 19 January , 2018 Share Posted 19 January , 2018 48FA. At BEAURAIN for 7 and 8 November 1918. Later in the day on 8th the unit moved to BRIASTRE to run Divisional Rest Station. 49FA. At LOGEAST WOOD on 26 Sept 1918. Map ref Sheet 57D: F.30.c.9.9. This place seems to have been a new construction or a refurb. There is a layout plan in the War Diary from August 1918. This too seems to have been a Divisonal Rest Station, well, they call it a DRS which might mean that ! Neither Diary has mention of action or casualty treatment on those days but they may have been treating sickness more than injury as there is ref to pneumonia and flu and other ailments. AndrewBelsey Posted 20 January , 2018 Share Posted 20 January , 2018 Thank you so much Sotonmate. He was suffering from DAH and probably not treated with much sympathy? He was sent back to Hospital in Rouen both times though.
