One for Jacky perhaps? Who was the old soldier in the wheelchair in the red uniform? He got a good cheer from the crowds as he was wheeled away from the Gate back into town, but no-one seemed to know who he was?! Thanks.

The name I don't know. Sure is that he was wearing the Royal Chelsea Hospital uniform. Specialists on this site will certainly know more about it.

Cheers,

jacky

:) Without doubt this chap is an in Pensioner at the Royal Hospital Chelsea,if you go to their web site it may well be able to give you his name,i do not think that he is a WW1 Vet as i visit the Royal Hospital on a Regular basis, and i think that all the WW1 vets have all passed away, ithink that the last Vet from ww1 in the Hospital ws Mr.Frank Sumpter of the Rifle Brigade.

Chelsea Pensioner,without a doubt,but maybe one from WW2.

There doesn't seem to be a Legion de Honneur amongst his medals.

I am not sure if there are any WW1 pensioners left, but i would think not.

As a kid,i remember the British Royal Legion Rememberance service, and the men in the Red Coats.

Always in step, even after all these years.

All the best.

Simon.
