JMB1943 Posted 10 September , 2015 Share Posted 10 September , 2015 Khaki, I always read a post that starts 'some of my.....' with a mixture of admiration & envy (NOT jealousy, there is a difference). They look pretty good, but if only I knew what I was looking at here......could you give a novice some hints ? Regards, JMB

Lancashire Fusilier Posted 10 September , 2015 Share Posted 10 September , 2015 What a lot of fun with the computer, almost sorry I started this thread, better off photographing them one at a time. khaki khaki, An excellent display of rifles in your rapidly expanding Armoury, and rifles always display so well when side-by-side in a rifle rack. shippingsteel Posted 10 September , 2015 Share Posted 10 September , 2015 That is an impressive collection of rifles, and you must be rivalling Chris (4G) with your variety of different types. You have done an excellent job.! But if you are having trouble identifying your Turkish Mauser you had better put it forward for an identification. Pretty sure I could assist with that ... Khaki Posted 10 September , 2015 Author Share Posted 10 September , 2015 Thanks JMB, LF and S>S, kind comments all round, I have other things which I enjoy but are not relevant to this forum such as a Spanish Micqulet lock musket that is probably well over 200 years old. I did once read the writing on the left of the receiver of the Turkish mauser and it was 1880's or 1890's, it has the straight S stock and was designed with a magazine cut off. khaki

Well the magazine cut-off will identify your Turkish Mauser as the Model 1893, which also has the straight underline to the stock (no 'pistol-grip' like the later M1903) Cheers, S>S
