sar2jec Posted 16 November , 2004 Share Posted 16 November , 2004 I have a Mercantile marine war medal named to a Sidney Rowe. On checking the CWGC there is an S. Rowe listed as a casualty. Is there any way I can check if it's the same person? Would it also be possible to find out about his ship the S.S. Glencliffe? Cheers, Jonathan You would need to eliminate the Possibilities of there being other Mercantile Mariners of that same Name;{Which would mean researching all S.Rowe in the Mercantile Marine} It is Possible/Probable that the S. Rowe listed as a Casualty was not a "Sidney"Try An Advanced Google Search for "SS Glenncliffe"you will probably find Pictures as well. Mercantile WW1 Medals do not carry a Rate/Rank,just a Full Name
