Available at the British Library an online database called

Trench Journals and Unit Magazines of the First World War 1914-1919

Described as:

An archival research resource containing a vast collection of rare magazines by and for servicemen and women of all nations during the First World War. Over 1,500 periodicals written and illustrated by serving members of the armed forces and associated welfare organisations published between 1914 and the end of 1919 are included. Magazines have been scanned cover-to-cover, in full colour or greyscale, and with granular indexing of all articles and specialist indexing of Publications.

Owing to licensing restrictions, this resource can only be accessed from British Library workstations within our Reading Rooms and our Business & Intellectual Property Centre. To access this resource in our Reading Rooms you need to apply for a Reader Pass.

Yes, I've used this at the BL, and an excellent resouce it is - but, as ever, the in-house restriction doesn't make life easy for anyone unable to get to St Pancras.

Does it include 'Whizz Bang' , the 6th DLI magazine ?.

Sorry, I can't remember Craig; though there are many titles, but not necessarily complete runs.

Wouldn't it be nice if they made it onto the British Newspaper Archive.

It would be great but I doubt it will if it's licenced by proquest. They seem to think academic use is only for universities and libraries.
