Hi

have recently got a Victory medal to a guy . I know nothing about this area being only interested in medals to The Somme battles so could one of you give me info as to what it was awrded for and what did this guy do and if it is rare?

The inscription is as follows : LZ 7883 M Flanagan O. TEL RNVR

Very common, you would need to get his Service Sheet from the National Archives to find out which ships he served aboard during WW1. The LZ number means that he was based with the London division and that he joined it after the start of the war. His rank would appear to be that of Ordinary Telegraphist.
