4thGordons Posted 7 August , 2015 Share Posted 7 August , 2015 Couple of unit markings that have me flummoxed.... 12thWRV MDC 7 Stamped into a rifle butt (side) along with a BSA cartouche. On the same rifle buttplate tang 3 LF 390 which is over CLF(?) 39 Chris
Khaki Posted 7 August , 2015 Share Posted 7 August , 2015 WRV = West Riding Volunteers? LF = Lancashire Fusiliers ? Still thinking about the rest khaki
trajan Posted 7 August , 2015 Share Posted 7 August , 2015 What model / date / provenance is the firearm? That might help eliminate some possibles... WRV could be West Riding Volunteers, but to the best of my knowledge the usual marking for West Riding units was 'W.RID'. I assume that MDC is not 'Military District C'? trajan Posted 30 August , 2015 Share Posted 30 August , 2015 And here's another new one to me in the P.1907 unit marking field, on a 12/14 SANDERSON.... (and JMB, note no clearance hole!). It's '1017 / L.D.F'. I strongly suspect Irish, Local Defence Force - any comments / corrections?
