Kitchener's Bugle Posted 26 July , 2015 Share Posted 26 July , 2015 This memorial consists of a marble soldier with rifle standing on a polished granite tapering plinth, which is atop of a rough-hewn granite base. The plinth is inscribed with a gold guild dedication to the men of Ferryhill who served in World War I and World War II. The memorial stands in the Ferryhill Town Hall Gardens, County Durham. The memorial is Grade II listed. In 2013 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,022 towards cleaning the memorial using a steam cleaning system, raking out the joints and re-pointing using lime mortar and re-guilding the lettering using a 23 ½ carat gold leaf. The memorial was first erected and unveiled in 1920.

aden10 Posted 6 September , 2022 Share Posted 6 September , 2022 If anyone is researching soldiers from either East Howle or Ferryhill, I would be very interested to hear from them. Subsequently, please note that names Bowron F and Bowtell J have also been added, this was due to original spelling of surnames been incorrect.
