Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 26 July , 2015 Share Posted 26 July , 2015 Dear fellow-GWF enthusiasts, As readers of the attached manuscript will see, Morgan Dockrell seemingly breezed through a successful life - until his inexplicably abrupt end, that is. He researched beautifully, and indeed, his Kaisar-i-Hind, 2nd class (in silver) was quite an unusual award to a non-medical Indian Army officer. However, I managed to discover only one, pre-Great War, portrait. Perhaps the one or the other GWF member holds officer group photos of 116th Mahrattas, or 2/2nd Rajput Light Infantry (Third Afghan) - or even a Cantonments group, which included Dockrell. Who knows? I would be more than grateful... Kindest regards, Kim. Kimberley John lindsay Dok1.doc

Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 6 August , 2015 Author Share Posted 6 August , 2015 Dear GWF-enthusiasts, Here is a pre-Great War picture of the versatile Morgan Dockrell - a champion swimmer, and soon to become an IA officer. He was one of the few non-medical officers to be awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind in Silver: no doubt for services to Cantonments. Now all I need is a Regimental officer group photo including the tall and fit-looking Dockrell: who, surprisingly, was a life-long asthmatic... Kindest regards, Kim. Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 6 August , 2015 Author Share Posted 6 August , 2015 Dear GWF members, Here, for the general interest of all, are the medals of Lt-Col Morgan Dockrell, with his (at least for a military officer) unusual K-i-H. Any comments would be more than welcome! Kindest regards, Kim. Kimberley John Lindsay
