Marriner, Joseph

Hi,

Can anyone help - it would be helpful to know what Battalion Joseph Marriner was in when wounded in 1915. Hampshire regiment. Made a Lance Corporal in May 1915 and we think he was deployed to theatre 4th June 1915. We was home on leave 31st July 1915 wounded and suffering a fever. Would be great to fill in the blanks - he survived the war but not sure if he returned to theatre after this wound or if he went on to be discharged. Joseph is listed on our Buriton, Hampshire, Roll of Honour.

Probably Joseph Marriner 8832 in Hampshire Regiment and 277242 in Essex Regiment.

If this is him, it doesn't look like his service record has survived. Medal rolls on Ancestry should say which battalions he was in. If he first entered a theatre before the end of 1915, medal card and rolls on Ancestry should confirm the date. His 6 digit number suggests that he was still in the army in 1917.
