Guest Posted 29 January , 2020 Share Posted 29 January , 2020 I wonder if anyone is able to help who has a copy of this book. I just wanted to know if the name Carnaby Street was used for any WW1 trenches? If so, where please? It's just a one-off bit of information I'm after rather than wading through many, many entries. If you are able to help I would be grateful. Many thanks. Tim
Malcolm Linham Posted 29 January , 2020 Share Posted 29 January , 2020 Tim Carnaby Street is not mentioned in the original 2006 Rats Alley, I don't have the revised edition at preset. Malcolm

seaJane Posted 30 January , 2020 Share Posted 30 January , 2020 Welcome to the forum, Tim! Carnaby Street as slang for somewhere fashionable isn't reported in the Oxford English Dictionary till the 1960s, so that might have some bearing on its non-appearance as a trench name.
