Guest Pete Wood Posted 13 November , 2004 Share Posted 13 November , 2004 I know some of you are aware of this chap, but wouldn't you like to see his medals and plaque to see how they got around the problem of: Captain L. eviltaxman Posted 13 November , 2004 Share Posted 13 November , 2004 I'd love to see his memorial plaque... it would be more impressive than the one for Kitchener that has been doing the rounds. Les.
enoch beard Posted 13 November , 2004 Share Posted 13 November , 2004 that name would give the pattern makers something to moan about!
Guest Hill 60 Posted 13 November , 2004 Share Posted 13 November , 2004 What was his parents thinking of? What's wrong with Bob, Sid or even (dare I say) Lee? Imagine having to sign a cheque? Imagine him being asked by a Police Officer for his name
duckman Posted 15 November , 2004 Share Posted 15 November , 2004 Captain L. S. D. O. F. F. T.-T. de O. P. Tollemache-Tollemache, Leicester Regiment. It gets worse, Pete, This gent appears in the Guiness Book of Records as having the most multi-barrelled surname in history. But that would mean the name on his plaque should read: Captain L. S. D. O. F. F. Tollemache-Tollemache de Orellana Plantagenet Tollemache-Tollemache, Leicester Regiment. Apparently he was known as "Tolly" to his friends (!)
