olaT Posted 10 June , 2015 Share Posted 10 June , 2015 Does anyone know if this was done? I know that there were British recruiters in the US before the US entry into war, but did this continue afterwards? I have a US citizen crossing the border to Canada in 1917, on a list of persons entering Port Arthur in June this year a note is written regarding number of them: "These men enlisted in the Forestry Battalion under Maj. Huntington and were transferred to headquarter at Brockville, Ont." He went on serving in Europe for the Forestry Corps. As a American citizen he would have been drafted. Did he prefer such, Canadian forestry, service to ordinary soldiering in the trenches?
