alf mcm Posted 2 June , 2015 Share Posted 2 June , 2015 Can anyone tell me where 221 P.O.W. Company was based? I think it was in Britain, possibly in Scotland. Regards, Alf McM
alf mcm Posted 3 June , 2015 Author Share Posted 3 June , 2015 I have just read, in 'No Labour, No Battle', an excellent book on the Labour Corps, that P.O.W. Companies were made up of 400 Germans {page 149}. This seems a large number for a Company, and the Long Long Trail mentions 100 Germans in a Company. Can anyone confirm if the figure of 400 a typo, or is it correct? Regards, Alf McM
kevinrowlinson Posted 4 June , 2015 Share Posted 4 June , 2015 Alf, I cannot answer your second question, but if you subscribe to FMP you could search specifically for "221st" in optional keywords and "Labour Corps" in regiment and go through some of the records which may show where some men were discharged from in 1919. Some of the hits will be for other 221st coys, but they should be plenty for the POW Coy. Place Cognelee? Kevin
