New London Zepp Raid Plaque

On Friday 29th May Hackney Council will unveil a new plaque on the house where the first Zeppelin bomb on London dropped - 16 Alkham Road, Stoke Newington.

Back in the 1990s the Council erected a plaque on the corner of Nevill Road/Osterley Road, on what was once the Nevill Arms pub, believing it the site where the first bomb dropped. Unfortunately the information Hackney had at the time was wrong - and they managed to get the date wrong by one day too!

However, Hackney Council have responded very positively to my prodings over the last 14 months and the old plaque has been removed and the new one will be unveiled on Friday - two days before the centenary of the raid.

Aspern,

Nice plaque, and here is another Zeppelin plaque attached to a property at 61 Farringdon Road, London, where the former property on that site was destroyed during the German Zeppelin L13's raid on London on September 8th, 1915.

Also, here is a link to a current GWF Thread, which has information and photographs relating to the the London Zeppelin raids.

Regards,
LF

This is an old thread I thought to add a postcard to, held by my family since the war, depicting the Zeppelin L13 over London on the night 8th September 1915.
