Hi,

I bought this postcard, from a W. Ealing studio of this young chap named as "Charlie Dunn Beds Reg. 1917".

He's a good shot, been a good boy for 2yrs? plus and wounded whilst engaged in active Ops, I presume with the Beds.

I found a likely in;

Charles James Dunn.

9705. 10th Btn Royal West Surrey.

271512 Beds.

103323. 15th Btn. Notts and Derby.

His Medals are inscribed as a Sherwood Forester.

Could anyone help date his transfer to the Beds or the Sherwoods by service No. Please.

Guy.

271512 is a 1917 re-numbering for the Bedfordshire Regiment,except that it was part of a series (265001 to 290000) used for 1/1 Hertfortdshire Regt ! In May 1918 several hundred men from 6 Battalion Bedfordshire were transferred to 1/1 Herts.

I would be guessing that he was wounded whilst with Queen's Royal West Surreys and on return to fitness joined the Beds.
