DCLI Posted 11 November , 2004 Share Posted 11 November , 2004 I have just been looking at some medals on ebay. Three of which are claimed to be casualties, however, I have checked and only one is listed on the CWGC site. The seller has even listed where they are buried/listed. Could the others be casulaties but not be on the CWGC site?
CROONAERT Posted 11 November , 2004 Share Posted 11 November , 2004 Could the others be casulaties but not be on the CWGC site? Yes. It happens. Has the vendor given a date of death for these "missing" persons? There are a variety of reasons why they might not be listed on CWGC (one of them being that the CWGC isn't infallable!). Did they die at home and are buried in their homelands by any chance? Dave.
leigh Posted 12 November , 2004 Share Posted 12 November , 2004 If they list the cemetery, have you tried looking up the cemetery on the CWGC and then finding the person that way? L.
gem22 Posted 12 November , 2004 Share Posted 12 November , 2004 Casualty doesn't necessarily mean dead. Perhaps the vendor got it wrong. Or misunderstood the meaning of the word casualty. Garth
