Introduced (as the name suggests) well before the war but used in considerable numbers up until early 1916. It mounts on the Magazine Lee-Enfield and the Charger Loading Lee-Enfield There appears to be an odd riveting arrangement (or some modification) on this example - a good close up of the handle (all of it) may shed light. And yes, there is something odd on the grip to the left of the clearance hole. Looks like there is a unit mark on the pommel as well!
