Cardiff and the Vale in the First World War

This book is by prolific author Phil Carradice.

I've not read it but would advise Pals who might be thinking of buying it that it receives a poor review in 'Morgannwg - the Journal of Glamorgan History'. The academic reviewer (who has researched a roll of honour in his local chapel and lectures on history) highlights several errors of fact and contradictions in the work. He advises those who wish to know how the war impacted on Cardiff and the Vale to 'look elsewhere'.

So disappointing but caveat emptor, chums.

I'll provide a separate review of 'Cardiff and the Valleys in the Great War' (by Gary Dobbs) later this evening. I have read that one.

I've just got this one and a first pass confirms it to be very disappointing and superficial, I am prepared to change that fist impression on further detailed reading.

Mr Carradice is talking to my local U3A group on Wednesday. Subject: I think it's the battle of Coronel, 1914.
