Would anyone have any more info on the above I only have CWGC entry and the fact he played polo appeared in the roll of honour. If he was associated with living in ireland may have a photo of him under the name Mr Butler.

His Service record should exist either amongst the Officers records at Kew or at the Regimental Archives, I know the latter holds those of the OR's but I'm not sure about Guards Officers, someone will though.

Thanks he's not turned up in any Rolls of honour, no grapahic, no sphere, war illustrated, etc. Thanks for input

John Henry Rippon Butler was born in Australia in 1897, I think.

His medal card shows his mother as Mrs Butler c/o Mrs SEH Butler, 26 West Park, Eltham.

The Argus, Melbourne - http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/1596293

BUTLER.-On the 16th September, died of wounds

received in action on the 15th, John Henry Rippon

Butler, Second Lieutenant, dearly loved elder son

of Lily Maud and the late Henry Butler, The Grange,

Brighton Beach, Melbourne, in his 20th year.
