Contained (dependent on recipient): tobacco, cigarettes, chocolate, bullet pencil, postcard photo and Christmas card. Those for Indian troops, non-smokers and boys contained sweets etc. in lieu of tobacco. Sent out to the troops of the BEF for Xmas '14 as a gift from the Royal Family. Apparently took a great deal of sorting out so not all got theirs in time, and there were several different models and types of metal used.
