Guest Grandpa Jack Posted 10 November , 2004 Share Posted 10 November , 2004 First time user so hope I have posted this in the right place. I would like to take my mother to France to visit the battle fields where her father fought. I have been to Kew and have the following information from the medal register: Russell, Jack - Pte Corps - Middlesex Regiment Regiment No 3405 Disembarkation date 07/09/1915 From the BW & V Medals it also states 'Middx RT - 10939 - 5th London' (I have also gathered that he transferred/moved to the Royal Flying Corps and served in Egypt) Can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest how I go about finding where he fought in France, please. doogal Posted 10 November , 2004 Share Posted 10 November , 2004 Hi, There was a good article on the WFA website - about how to track down where a soldier fought. It even went so far as to say it is sometimes possible to locate it down to a literal "stone's throw". "Can I stand on Grandfather's trench?" WFA article Apart from that, there are many experts on this forum who will be able to give you specific details on this regiment. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about this particular regiment. good luck doogal
