Some SMLE porn :)

Smells like gun-oil and BLO to me ... (nothing kinky here) :w00t:

PS. Let's see how long these SMLE collectors can string together an intelligent conversation ... (yawn)

Cheers, S>S

Well, yes, that's it really... I mean, how many distinctive types of rifle were used by any one country in the GW... Not that many compared to luverly bayonets... I mean, look at Germany - six basic types of rifle, and over 10 types of bayonet to fit them, without getting into the Ersatz series...

Although post Great War, the second one down is yet another variation - the Indian .410 musket. (c/w shorter Indian bayonet.)

Absolutely stunning SMLEs 5thBatt, and great photos too. Crisp markings and those stocks just ooze patina and history.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers, J

The title of the thread is "Not Bayonets" but please do show us some photos of your rifles :)

I collect Lee Enfields & have no other types of WW1 rifles but if someone could post their rifles, please do, this thread does not have to be all about Lee Enfields.

I'd paste more pix of my collection (rifles, pistols and revolvers) but the problem with this site is the limited size allowed for pictures.

Hi 5th,

I was simply commenting on SS's observation about SMLE rifles and by extension remarking on (to some people's minds!) an apparent superfluity of bayonet threads! The fact being that there are more bayonet types than rifles, ergo...

Anyway, I am partial to a nice SMLE and/or a Kar.98AV - but as a non-Turk, I cannot legally own either in this country (although I can own a Martini-Peabody!), so I'll just share in enjoying the photographs...! And yes, some nice examples, and lovely coloured woods around!

Nice smle's you can never get too many!

A pic of mine,

1917 dated LSA

1910 dated Enfield

1905 dated G98

The enfield is rather'rough' so i have some work to do on it.

Another 1916 or 1918 dated enfield is on its way shortly.

I love the Lebel, i really want one of those!

Quite rare in th Uk and as such very pricey.

But if you dont look you dont find! Mind you its a question of affording one.
