Evening all,

I have a photograph of my great grandfather and his wife. In this image (attached) he is in uniform and has a good conduct stripe on his left sleeve which suggests that he had been a good soldier for at least one year. His name is Patrick May b 1878 in Sheffield, UK, but I can't find any details about him such as his mic. So, can I surmise that he did not go to the theatre And stayed at home?

If this is correct, how would, and where would I start trying to find out information about his service. There is no attestation papers either, so I assume these were in the burnt series?

can anyone please help

Dean,

My Patrick may was born in Sheffield and this man i have seen before. His Attestation papers that show next of kin do not match my mans next of kin.

Simon,

Thats great and could be my man as he was a bricklayer by trade. Does it give any other information like address or similar please?
