auchonvillerssomme Posted 29 March , 2015 Share Posted 29 March , 2015 I have quite a few of these cards (the majority being WW2 and signed) but know nothing about them. Can anyone tell me how many WW1 cards there were and maybe provide a list please. Mick
Guest Dubaiowl Posted 12 June , 2015 Share Posted 12 June , 2015 Hi Mick I too have a few of the Brooklet cards, most signed by the VC recipient, but can find no information on them via Google. One of the people I bought some of he cards from said that the full set consists of 40 cards, and he says there were only 50 sets issued, making 2000 cards in total. This seems low to me but I have no way of verifying or contradicting this at the moment. I have managed to establish who features on most of the cards and so far with the exception of No1 they are all WW2 or later. I believe No1 is J F Russell who was awarded a posthumous VC in WW!. If you want to sell any of your cards at any time please let me know. Best regards Chris
auchonvillerssomme Posted 12 June , 2015 Author Share Posted 12 June , 2015 Hi Chris, I'm not in the market to sell at the moment but I will keep you in mind. One of my interests, for the obvious reason that I work at the Victoria Cross Trust Museum, is the VC. I was sent a list of the cards on another forum. But still no details about who and why issued. auchonvillerssomme Posted 12 June , 2015 Author Share Posted 12 June , 2015 Hi Chris, from observation of other items there were a couple of them that appear to have taken every opportunity to sign everything placed in front of them. But then I think, what the hell they have a VC.
