Members of this forum are probably familiar with the Russian-German project to digitize WWI German documents in the archives of the Russian Federation. The webpage is here: http://www.germandocsinrussia.org/en/no ... foderation

As part of my research, I downloaded all the German General Staff maps from the webpage that show the location of French, British and Belgian forces on the Western Front from Feb 1916 to Nov 1918. The maps are a great resource, but frankly, downloading 112 maps one by one and organizing them by date was maddening. But I did it, and will gladly send the entire collection via the ftp site http://www.wetransfer.com to anyone who wants the collection. Each map is approximately 2 to 3 MB and the entire collection is 304 MB.

One of the maps can be seen here - http://tsamo.germandocsinrussia.org/de/nodes/184-akte-nr-172-ubersichtskarte-des-chefs-des-generalstabes-des-feldheeres-nachrichtenabteilung-zur-verteilung-der-franzosischen-englischen-und-belgischen-streitkrafte-an-der-westfront-vom-10-01-1917-m-1-750-000#page/2/mode/inspect/zoom/4

I'd like a copy, but I'm confused as to how the 'wetransfer.com' site works.

I opened the link, but it's requesting files from me - I think.

Can you provide 'an idiot's guide' on how to get the transfer?

Tom.

Hi Tom,

It should easy, but wetransfer.com does go haywire sometimes. I input your email address into wetransfer.com, upload the map files (which are jpegs), and then send them to you. The iles then reside on a server at wetransfer.com. They send you an email with a downlaod link. You click on it and the maps will download like any other files. Does that answer your question?

Regards,

Marc
