Tom Lang Posted 5 March , 2015 Share Posted 5 March , 2015 I have been transcribing the War Diary of the 13th Bn East Surrey Regiment. The NA has the Diary in 3 parts: WO 95/2612/3 01 Jun 1916 - 31 Jan 1918; 40th Division, 120th Infantry Brigade: Online WO 95/2606/4 01 Feb 1918 - 31 Jul 1918; 40th Division, 119th Infantry Brigade: Online WO 95/5460 Aug 1918 ONLY ; Part XI Home Forces : NOT online I downloaded the 1st part (WO 95/2612/3 01 Jun 1916 - 31 Jan 1918) some time ago and completed my transcription. Last week I downloaded the 2nd part (WO 95/2606/4 01 Feb 1918 - 31 Jul 1918). The pages for July 1918 are in (what I call) a photo-negative style. There are 7 pages for July 1918 and all are in the same style. No other page is like these. I contacted the 'digitaldownloads' section at the NA to ask why, and they replied: "We have taken a look at the original pages of WO 95/2606/4 and can confirm that the online PDF matches the original for July 1918". I've attached a sample from June 1918 and a sample from July 1918 to ask if anyone has seen this before "as the original pages". Kindest Regards, Tom. WalkEric Posted 5 March , 2015 Share Posted 5 March , 2015 Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? I photographed this document myself at TNA, from WO 95/2593/
Tom Lang Posted 5 March , 2015 Author Share Posted 5 March , 2015 Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? I photographed this document myself at TNA, from WO 95/2593/5 Well, not exactly. I also have that section of the 40th Div Diary (WO 95/2593/5). My question was regarding why the download I received recently (WO 95/2606/4) contains regular 'style' pages, then the last 7 pages are in this 'photo-negative' style. But thanks for your reply. Kindest Regards, Tom.
