johnboy Posted 5 February , 2015 Share Posted 5 February , 2015 After a post elsewhere on the forum I thought I would see if there was any info on Normans father during WW1. Wiki give a brief line about living in Paddington and Maida Hill. There is a service record for him on Ancestry showing him in ASC as a driver M2 192731. I am puzzled by an application for repatriation to India that was approved. 1911 census shows him as living in London with his parents, Is there a way to find the apparent connection with India. ss002d6252 Posted 5 February , 2015 Share Posted 5 February , 2015 He apparently worked in ceylon post war so maybe he had already been working their earlier or had a job lined up. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/sir-norman-wisdom-actor-and-comedian-who-performed-for-the-queen-was-lauded-by-chaplin-and-heroworshipped-in-albania-2098589.html Craig
johnboy Posted 5 February , 2015 Author Share Posted 5 February , 2015 Thanks for the link Craig. As there is nothing about Ceylon or India in his service record, addresses etc I wondered how he could claim for repatriation. There is nothing in his records that say he travelled to England from either place to enlist,
