Dragon Posted 4 February , 2015 Share Posted 4 February , 2015 If anyone is interested in the work of Rev P B 'Tubby' Clayton in educating men leaving service after the Great War, a large selection of postcards and photos has just been put on eBay. You'll find them under 'Knutsford' - he opened his Test School in the disused prison in Knutsford, Cheshire, in 1919. There may be other pictures elsewhere but I haven't looked. I have no connection with the items or the vendor and am not interested in bidding on them, but I thought it might be helpful to draw attention to them. I was interested in the photos of the interior of the prison, which was where Booths supermarket now is. Gwyn
Magnumbellum Posted 4 February , 2015 Share Posted 4 February , 2015 What actually made the Knutsford Prison building available for Tubby Clayton in 1919 was the closure earlier in the year of the Knutsford Work Centre, which, under the Home Office Scheme for conscientious objectors, had occupied the building since late 1916.
