o j kirby Posted 2 February , 2015 Share Posted 2 February , 2015 Hello, I have been researching 2680 Alan Bridges, who served with the 10th battalion (Scottish) Liverpool Regiment. He transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and was numbered as 67013, and rose to be Corporal. As there is not a six figure TF renumbering, I assume he transferred to the MGC before 1917. Bridges enisted on 21st April 1913, and according to his Silver War Badge roll entry, he disembarked on 23rd January 1915, and was discharged due to sickness on 27th february 1919. Is there anyone out there with knowledge of the movements of the Liverpool Scottish, and has anyone got any information on Bridges? Anything of relevance is most welcome. Many thanks, Owain. IRC Kevin Posted 3 February , 2015 Share Posted 3 February , 2015 It would not be unreasonable to presume that he was with 166 MG Coy from the re-formation of 55 Division in January 1916 until later in 1916 when all of 166 MG Coy were transferred to the MGC. Not sure of the exact month, but for most this was merely a change of cap badge, as they remained with the division.
o j kirby Posted 12 February , 2015 Author Share Posted 12 February , 2015 Hello, Thanks for the replies. I have Bridges' MGC aluminium i.d. bracelet. This does state the MGC Company that he was a member of, but the way that it is stamped is not totally clear. It appears to say 204 Coy. but the "0" is open to dispute. It appears badly formed, and indistinct. It is either an "0" stamped over a misplaced "4", or otherwise, could be a bad 3 or a 5! 204 seems to however most likely having scrutinised in many different lights, and passing my artistic eye over it!
