GWF1967 Posted 9 January , 2015 Share Posted 9 January , 2015 Hi, I've unearthed a family photo but cannot identify the cap badge. Could anyone offer any suggestions please. Guy
Guest Posted 9 January , 2015 Share Posted 9 January , 2015 If it's British here's a few guesses RFC, Royal Hampshire, Cheshire Regt, Tank Corps. Just guessing though, it's not an easy one? Mike
asanewt Posted 9 January , 2015 Share Posted 9 January , 2015 Tempted to say RFC but running for cover
ARABIS Posted 9 January , 2015 Share Posted 9 January , 2015 The dark mohair band around the cap with the black leather peak & chinstrap tells me RAF post 1919.
Pat Atkins Posted 9 January , 2015 Share Posted 9 January , 2015 I thought RFC for the badge too at first, but a comparison of the lettering of the two seems to favour the RAF - which would support ARABIS's identification of the cap of course (not that it needs supporting, by the sound of it). Cheers, Pat

headgardener Posted 10 January , 2015 Share Posted 10 January , 2015 RAF cap badge. Early post-war, based on the uniform.
GWF1967 Posted 10 January , 2015 Author Share Posted 10 January , 2015 Hi, Many thanks to all for your detective work. Now I know the uniform I think the subject is my grandfather - Sgt. Sidney Hunt - 508510 RAF. BORN 1903 - so the photo would be approx 1921! I know little of his early life, only my mothers recollections post 1936. He was stationed in Canada during WW11 (1943) though I know not why. Any tips on tracing RAF personnel would be welcome. Regards, Guy.
