high wood Posted 5 January , 2015 Share Posted 5 January , 2015 I have found several of these over the years but this one is the largest at 4" x 3" x 3". They have all been undated but all have had the W broadarrow D mark impressed into the lid. I presume that they were used to keep detonators in but can anyone please confirm what they were used for? Thank you. Simon
tocemma Posted 5 January , 2015 Share Posted 5 January , 2015 Simon, It's the type of box used for motor transport bulbs. These date from WW1 but were in use well into the 1970s at least. I own a WW2 Daimler Heavy Armoured car, and it has an identical box in the internal stowage holding 3 bulbs in a cardboard spacer.
