Remembered Today:

WD marked small metal box

high wood

Recommended Posts

I have found several of these over the years but this one is the largest at 4" x 3" x 3". They have all been undated but all have had the W broadarrow D mark impressed into the lid.

I presume that they were used to keep detonators in but can anyone please confirm what they were used for?

Thank you.

Simon

Simon,

It's the type of box used for motor transport bulbs. These date from WW1 but were in use well into the 1970s at least.

I own a WW2 Daimler Heavy Armoured car, and it has an identical box in the internal stowage holding 3 bulbs in a cardboard spacer.

Regards

Tocemma
