Alister Posted 30 December , 2014 Share Posted 30 December , 2014 I am trying to trace the story of a Welsh-born soldier, Charles Douglas Baillie-Hamilton, who died on 2 June 1916 whilst serving with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was originally posted as missing in action, presumed killed. The recently released CWGC grave concentration documents show that his body was recovered and interred in Tyne Cot Cemetery, having been identified by 'A13 64'. Other names on the same sheet show bodies identified by rank badges, regimental badges etc. Does anyone know what 'A13 64' related to? Any information would be of great value. clive_hughes Posted 30 December , 2014 Share Posted 30 December , 2014 Hi Alister, Probably a typo for the man's Army Service and Pay Book - aka the "AB 64". Have you had a look at his full Canadian army file? Clive
JWK Posted 30 December , 2014 Share Posted 30 December , 2014 As Clive said : it dóes look like AB 64 on the CWGC website (see e.g. "Badge" at the top of the column on that same sheet) :
Alister Posted 3 January , 2015 Author Share Posted 3 January , 2015 Many thanks to the three who responded to my question. I think Clive is right, I have misread AB as A 13. Alister
