catfishmo Posted 26 December , 2014 Share Posted 26 December , 2014 Diary of an American during WWI: Reminiscences of the 137th U.S. Infantry is free online here. Since my area of focus is generally diaries from the British perspective, accounts of the end of the war are not nearly as common as accounts from earlier in the war. I happened upon this diary and scanned the end. Very interesting to read the soldier's reaction to the armistice, and their time in France afterwards. They joked that Foch and Pershing would be dining in an upscale NY restaurant in 1921 and realize they division was forgotten about. It also details their journey home, through New York then by train to Kansas and their final inspection their before being 'set free.' ~Ginger
