Again, unfortunately I know nothing about him and can't enlarge anything...

I only posted the picture on the off-chance that anyone might have bright ideas as thre seemed to be so little information on it. So I'm really embarassed that I've missed that chevron and the (probable) wound stripe.

Given the family it came from it MIGHT be Henry Robert Bewers of the 2nd Suffolks - died August 18th 1916 and commemorated at Thiepval. He was 38 - his brother was a career sailor, enlisting in 1896, so he could have been a long-term soldier - how long did you need to serve for an undiscovered crime chevron?
