andigger Posted 2 November , 2004 Share Posted 2 November , 2004 Just curious what people thought about this book. I have done a search, and generally found very positive comments, though the book was a bit of a challenging read. I am just getting started with it, and have to admit I am getting the same impression that it will not be a 'quick read'. Any comments? Thanks, Andy
paul guthrie Posted 2 November , 2004 Share Posted 2 November , 2004 It's excellent, go for it. I think the author has died.

Mark Hone Posted 2 November , 2004 Share Posted 2 November , 2004 A classic, in similar vein to 'First Day On The Somme' and I think inspired by it. One of my all-time favourite World War One books.

Yves Le Cuziat, MBE Posted 22 November , 2004 Share Posted 22 November , 2004 G'day It is surely one of the best book to read to understand the Human cost paid by British troops in the Somme battle 1916 Cheers Yves
