The Doctor Posted 10 December , 2014 Share Posted 10 December , 2014 I am trying to find out the regiment of this soldier, the father of a friend. The cap badge appears to be a Rifles Maltese Cross surmounted by a crown, with a scroll, and presumably a motto, under it. He is wearing a leather belt with an 's' buckle, and carrying a swagger stick. The soldier himself was from Nottinghamshire, East Markham to be precise. Any help would be much appreciated. GraemeClarke Posted 10 December , 2014 Share Posted 10 December , 2014 Hi A name would help, also a bigger picture, or an enlargement of the cap badge. Regards, Graeme
Steven Broomfield Posted 10 December , 2014 Share Posted 10 December , 2014 At a guess, and from the evidence suggested, possibly Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby)?
The Doctor Posted 10 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 10 December , 2014 I've managed to get a better picture of the badge, and his name was Charles Bush.
Steven Broomfield Posted 10 December , 2014 Share Posted 10 December , 2014 Notts & Dots for sure, I'd say.

The Doctor Posted 12 December , 2014 Author Share Posted 12 December , 2014 Once I had something to look for I found a photo of the SF badge, and I agree that's the one, so many thanks to all the responders for some very fast work. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though there are any service records for him, not even a medal card, but perhaps something will turn up.
